Eric Lauritzen was appointed Agricultural Commissioner & Sealer of Weights and Measures in Monterey County in 1998. He previously served as Agricultural Commissioner in Sonoma County, Deputy Agricultural Commissioner in San Mateo County, and Agricultural Biologist in Alameda County. Lauritzen has over 30 years’ experience in regulatory programs and public administration.
As Agricultural Commissioner, Lauritzen plays a unique and vital role within both the public and private sectors of Monterey County. He is responsible for ensuring farm worker health and safety, facilitating trade through enforcement of quarantines, regulating weights and measures, safeguarding the environment, and protecting consumers. As a County ambassador of agriculture, Lauritzen is recognized for building strong, positive relationships among his constituents, while upholding firm standards of regulatory compliance and enforcement.
