Meet the Commissioner

Commissioner Erik LauritzenEric Lauritzen has served as Agricultural Commissioner & Sealer of Weights & Measures in Monterey County since his appointment in 1998. Formerly, Lauritzen served as Agricultural Commissioner in Sonoma County, Deputy Agricultural Commissioner in San Mateo County, and Agricultural Biologist in Alameda County; he has over 30 years experience in regulatory programs and public administration.

Lauritzen maintains a unique and important role in both the governmental and business sectors of Monterey County; the Agricultural Commissioner is responsible for the promotion and protection of the agricultural industry while also ensuring farm worker health and safety, environmental resource protection, and a fair market place for consumers. Lauritzen is recognized for his strength in building relationships among the public and private sectors – for being and ambassador of agriculture, while upholding firm standards of regulatory compliance and enforcement.
